Hi bookworms. Thanks for visiting.

Welcome to fifty-two plus. The blog where I (try to) read the year, one week at a time.

Just a little about me–I’m a 25-year-old Jersey girl who loves reading, writing, and exploring new places. I’m a water sign, which means I’m moody and often find myself lost in my daydreams. I also love the ocean, true crime podcasts, and just about anything coconut-flavored or scented.

Currently, I work as a freelance writer, dabbling in everything from B2B content writing to editorial work. I’m most passionate about long-form composition, specifically in women’s media, travel writing and arts journalism and would eventually love to work for a magazine or publication.

Until then, I started this blog for two reasons:

  1. I read. A lot. I’ve always been in love with books and often find myself canceling plans to curl up on my couch to finish a chapter (shoutout to my friends for still inviting me out). I always have a book (or two) on me and jump at the chance to make recommendations. I also adore the “bookstagram” community and earlier this year thought to myself “I could do that…” while scrolling through my feed. Hence, baby’s first bookstagram.
  2. I write. A lot. I blogged throughout college and wrote for my school’s Her Campus magazine in my senior year. Unfortunately, now that I write for a living, I’ve stopped writing personally– writing sales slicks and marketing strategies don’t necessarily fuel my “creative energy.” But, writing is incredibly important to me and I needed to start doing it for myself again. This seemed like the perfect way to dive back in.

So, that’s how fifty-two plus came to be. I’ll keep reading and will be sharing my thoughts along the way. Stay tuned for reviews, musings, and more, and don’t hesitate you send me your own book recs–I’m always looking for more!

Happy reading 🙂
